Freestanding Stone Walls
Historically used in New England to mark property boundaries, keep livestock in, and as a place to dispose of unwanted rocks, freestanding walls can be used in modern times for a variety of purposes while offering an air of nostalgia. While not very common in Western North Carolina, they are still a great choice depending on your space.
Here in the mountains, we are so often dealing with slope that retaining walls are our most common build. Nevertheless, freestanding stone walls are a wonderful choice to mark a boundary, to define a space, to reduce road noise, or to create visual interest in your yard.
